My Peugeot 306 Dturbo was a 2000 W reg model which I brought from George Heath Motors in Birmingham. I kept the car for just 12 months and sold it for my Lotus.
The standard engine is a 2.0 Turbo charged Diesel with 90Bhp and 205lb of torque I had planned to Superchip the car up to about 130bhp but never got the chance to before I sold it.
Some of the mods I made were :
Security
This was my first purchase, I brought a Toad Ai606 alarm to protect the car as I had big plans for it! The Toad alarm system was a Thatcham Category 1 system which also had the proximity sensor and the total closure add-ons.
Alloys
I brought a set of 17in OZ Vela alloy wheels which made the Peugeot very smart. I paid £900 for the set of 4 alloys and tyres from Halfords in Telford and after a few return visits they were all fine! Halfords rolled the arches on the Peugeot but got it wrong and the car had to have some body work done due to the damage they caused.
Lowering
I had the Peugeot lowered 35mm by Halfords. I had a lot of problems with this mod as Halfords originally set the rear torsion bar too low, they got it right in the end though.
Audio
I spent just under £3000 on audio, it was amazing being inside the Peugeot and was recorded at 144.4db at Halfords Ripspeed event. I had in the Peugeot:
Pioneer MEH-P9100R Mini Disc Head unit
2 JL Audio 12W3 Subs
Kenwood Power Series PS - 401M Amp
Kenwood Power Series PS - 501F Amp
Kicker 1.5 Farad Power Cap
MB Quartz Components
JBL P93 6*9's
I had problems with power originally and spoke to lots of people about it all suggested different things such as a bigger battery, power cap, up rated alternator. In the end I brought a power cap which solved the problem and made the system even better.
Halfords Ripspeed 2001
Halfords in Telford, Shropshire held their Ripspeed event on Saturday 30th June 2001, the turnout was not quite what I had expected but the day was still very good.
There were about 10-15 amateur cars competing. The sound off was split into 2 categories, 2 subs or 4 subs and a prize was given to the winner of each category, £50 of Halfords Vouchers also there were trophies for the three loudest cars on the day. The winners for loudest car on the day were:
A White Nova from Coventry which had 4*15inch subs and no back seats!
A red nova from ??? which had 4*12inch subs and no back seats!
My Peugeot 306 with 2*12subs and had back seats!
1st place winner managed to get to 152.5db, 2nd place got up to 143.2db and my Peugeot managed a impressive 144.4db. The reason I was 3rd is because Halfords added the 2 runs together and I played a different song the second time and only managed 143db.
